Amazon Web Services is joining hands with Riot Games to deliver esports content
Riot Games is getting into a partnership with Amazon Web Services to transform the sports content offered by Riot. The company uses the data analytics integration provided by Amazon Web Services on their sports broadcasts of Valorant, Wild Rift and League of Legends events
Amazon Web Services will become the official provider of cloud machine learning, cloud Artificial Intelligence, cloud services and cloud deep learning provider of Riot Games as per the terms laid by the partnership. Riot will now use AWS across all of their competitive events, including LoL Esports, Wild Rift Esports and the Valorant Champions Tour, to improve the quality of their esports broadcast.
Riot has already been using AWS services to help them deploy and design their games.
Riot wants to offer major sports league-type in-depth statistics
'Statistics powered by AWS' will be launched during esports broadcasts of Riot as they aim to provide in-depth statistics similarly to major sports leagues. The stats will appear before, after and in the middle of the broadcast to help fans understand the crucial data points that decide the results of the match.
The esports fans will be involved from the beginning of the feature as they will get to vote on which stats should be developed first. Riot will use 'Statistics powered by AWS' to review competitive gameplay in real-time to launch AWS Global Power Rankings of the top squads competing in LoL Esports and Wildrift Esports.
The selected stats will debut in September 2022 during the Valorant Champions, following which they will be featured at The League of Legends World Championship.
Amazon Web Services and Riot Games will launch 'Pick 'em powered by AWS.' They will also host a hackathon featuring Power Rankings and Pick them to get fans involved with the project. The feature will allow spectators to look at tournament data to pick teams and participate in bracket challenges to win potential prizes.
The teams competing in the hackathon will work toward building statistics-focused systems. The winning systems will potentially become parts of the future Riot Games broadcasts.
Project Stryker
Several cloud-first remote broadcast centres have been built by Riot Games using technology offered by Amazon Web Services under Project Stryker. The goal of these centres is to help Riot revolutionize the esports industry by supporting their ongoing and future endeavours
