Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh Sikandar Raza and Innocent Kaia's record-breaking tons gave the hosts a lead of 1-0
Zimbabwe is having the best of their time as they give a hell of a time to Bangladesh. After winning their first T20I series against the visitors, today they took the lead in the 3-match ODI series by 1-0
After winning the toss, Zimbabwe invited Bangladesh to bat. The visitors played brilliantly to post a total of 303/2 in 50 overs. All of their top four batters scored a half-century which was also a record for them in ODI history. Tamim Iqbal (62), Litton Das (81), Anamul Haque (73), and Mushfiqur Rahim (52) led the first innings of the game.
Zimbabwe bowlers bowled tightly towards the end; else, the target was looking to go beyond 320. After putting eight bowlers to work, only Victor Nyauchi and Sikandar Raza got one wicket each.
Bangladesh started defending the total brilliantly by taking two early wickets. Zimbabwe lost both their openers within two overs at six runs. Wesley Madhevere tried building a partnership with Innocent Kaia, but when he went back, scoring 19 runs. Sikandar Raza walked in, and Zimbabwe's next wicket fell after 28.4 overs as the duo built a 192-run stand in 172 balls.
"All credit to Raza and Innocent. The way they kicked on after losing early wickets, couldn't ask for anything better." Zimbabwe captain Regis Chakabva.
That 192-run partnership between Innocent Kaia and Sikandar Raza brought Zimbabwe back into the game. Sikandar Raza continued his attack with Luke Jongwe and brought to seal the win by hitting a six.
Bangladesh bowlers started well but dropped catches took away the game from the team, and Bangladesh made this mistake along with many misfields.
"We have been dropping catches regularly and someday it will cost us, that was today.", said Bangladesh Captain Tamim Iqbal.
Zimbabwe will now look to seal the ODI series on 7th August, while Bangladesh will keep the fight continuing until the last ODI. Bangladesh is hit with injury in the form of Litton Das, which will be a huge matter of concern for the visitors.
