Batting first, Derbyshire posted a target of 178 for Nottinghamshire in 20 overs. Their top-order batters were clinical, but Jake Ball's four-wicket haul kept them to 178. However, the team succeeded in posting a challenging total for the opposition. While the target was not an easy chase, Alex Hales blistering 91 runs off 33 balls left everyone mesmerised. In a stunning display of hitting, the batter smashed 12 boundaries and five maximums as he dominated the opening stand of 119 from 51 balls with Joe Clarke at the other end, who scored 25 off 20.

Hales reached his 50 in 18 balls, scoring 20 in George Scrimshaw's fourth over and 26 from Sam Conners' sixth over. His knock helped Nottinghamshire get 95 at the end of powerplay at a loss of no wicket.

Alex Hales' stunning batting show ended in the ninth over of the match bowled by Scrimshaw, where he skied the ball to the fielder placed at long-leg. But before getting dismissed, he sailed and did a significant job for batters to follow, who quickly chased down the target with 17 balls to spare. In the earlier three matches, the batter failed to gain momentum and could score 2, 15 and 15, respectively. However, he made a terrific comeback against Derbyshire to lead his team to a win.

Nottinghamshire Outlaws have their next clash on 5th June 2022 against Birmingham Bears, whereas Derbyshire will try to come back in the next fixture against Northampton on 7th June 2022
