Chennai Super Kings chased a humble target of 156 runs to beat Mumbai Indians by 3 wickets on the last ball of the second innings.

Mukesh Choudhary shakes the Mumbai Indians' camp with the new ball

Sent in to bat first, Mumbai Indians tasted what was to come in the first over itself. With his brilliant bowling, Chennai's pacer, Mukesh Choudhary, picked apart Mumbai's top order.

Mumbai Indians skipper, Rohit Sharma, was the first to fall to Mukesh Choudhary after giving away an easy catch to Mitchell Santner at mid-on. Rohit Sharma went back to the pavilion with a zero to his name.

Then, it was the turn of Mumbai Indian's 15.25 crore possession, Ishan Kishan, who also got departed to the dugout with a duck off of an incredible swinging yorker by Choudhary.

Before the men in blue could recover from two back-to-back losses, Mukesh Choudhary came in pacing back in the 3rd over and took away Dewald Brevis. Brevis tried to end the over on a high note but ended up giving a catch to MS Dhoni.

With 3 wickets gone, Mumbai Indians looked in trouble as they were dangling around with a 23/3 score and in dire need of a partnership. Although Suryakumar Yadav hit the initial runs and took Mumbai to a 47-run score, he quickly walked back to the pavilion after scoring 32 runs off 21 balls.

After Yadav's dismissal, Mumbai Indians tried to play cautiously and began to add runs to the scoreboard steadily. With Tilak Varma leading the charge, batsmen like Hrithik Shokeen, 25 off 25, and Kieron Pollard, 14 off 9, made small contributions.

After Kieron Pollard, Daniel Sams joined Varma but departed early to let Jaydev Unadkat score a furious 19 off of 9 balls. Varma also completed his half-century and remained unbeaten to take Mumbai Indians to a respectable score of 155 runs.

M.S. Dhoni finishes off in style

Chennai Super King's had a not-so-ideal start as Ruturaj Gaikwad was caught on the very first ball of the second innings.

Then Mitchell Santner joined Robin Uthappa to add some runs to the board. However, he didn't have much time as he was also caught in Daniel Sams' second over for 11 runs.

Ambati Rayudu and  Robin Uthappa created a stable partnership and added 40 runs before Robin Uthappa was dismissed in the 9th over. Shivam Dube tried to hold up with Rayudu, but he also fell short.

It was not until Ambati Rayudu's dismissal on the 15th that things started to heat up. Ambati Rayudu returned to the pavilion after scoring 40 runs, with Chennai super King's needing 47 more to win.

Captain Ravindra Jadeja also failed the test after being dismissed for 3 runs in the 16th over, and then it was up to Dwaine Pretorius and M.S. Dhoni to lead Chennai to a win.

Chennai Super King's needed 48 runs off the last 4 overs to register one of the most thrilling wins of this season, and they did just that. Dhoni, with Pretorius' help, who scored an impressive 22 off 14 balls, took Chennai Super Kings home in a remarkable win.

Chennai Super King's required 17 runs off the final over to win. Dhoni hit a six on the third ball of the last over bowled by Unadkat, only to complement it with a four on the next ball. Then came the magic moment where Dhoni had the audience stand up in awe as he hit the last ball for a four to register Chennai Super King's second win of this season.

Chennai Super Kings will now look for their third win of the season against Punjab Kings on 25th April. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians will try to put an end to this winless curse after registering their 7th consecutive loss against Lucknow Super Giants.
