Throughout the years in the Indian Premier League, there have been very few instances where both the opening batters have scored 50 plus score! However, it was not a mammoth task for some franchise's opening pair as both the opening players have scored fifty-plus scores individually multiple times. Let's have a look at some of these top teams, which have seen most of their openers scoring fifty in the same inning.
1. Sunrisers Hyderabad
With both the opening partners scoring 50 runs in the same innings a total of 12 times, Sunrisers Hyderabad tops the list! SRH is always known for their strong batting line-up, primarily the openers. Former Sunrises Hyderabad captain David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan were two significant pillars in their batting line-up, giving the team several times a booming start. The CSK's opening pairs contained some big names such as Michael Hussey, M Hayden, Brandon McCullum, Faf du Plessis, and Shane Watson. The legends of their time are the significant reasons for CSK's opening pair's success! Out of these great opening partnerships, Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson's 181 unbeaten stand against Punjab in 2020 is the highest opening stand for Chennai Super Kings.
4. Royal Challengers Bangalore
Royal Challengers Banglore was blessed with a few of the finest opening batters ever in the form of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, and Tillakaratne Dilshan. Throughout the years, RCB's both opening partners have scored 50 plus score eight times which is fourth-most by any team. Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle made a massive contribution in these eight instances, as these two have scored 50 plus scores 5 and 4 times, respectively, opening for the franchise. Royal Challengers Banglore has always been blessed with a great opening pair, whether it be Virat-Gayle or Virat-Padikkal; RCB's openers have constantly been impressive for their franchise. The highest opening stand for RCB was between Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli of unbeaten 181 runs in 2021 against Mumbai Indians.
