T20 World Cup: KFC Big Bash bowling stars who could make a difference
Reigning champions Australia is all set to host the T20 World Cup 2022, scheduled from 16th October 2022
While Aussies are the current favourites to win in their home conditions, the experience of certain bowlers from the Big Bash league held on the same pitches is likely to add advantage to other teams. A few bowlers who have just the right amount of familiarity experience needed with the conditions to give them favourable results are:
Chris Jordan- England (2016-2021)
Carrying five-year experiences of exploiting Australian batters in their backyard in the Big Bash League, Chris Jordon will be one of the most valuable experienced players for England. He has scalped 32 wickets in 30 innings and given an economy of 8.69. He has been a decent lower-order batter, carrying a strike rate of 93.88 in 18 innings and a terrific fielder with 21 catches in his bag.
His intelligence in changing variations and bowling pinpoint yorkers in death overs makes him unique in those conditions.
In the previous World Cup, he was the match winner for England against Australia to be named Player of the match for his spell of 3/17 and will be the star player to watch out for this time.
Rashid Khan- Afghanistan (2017-22)
Playing for Adelaide Strikers, Rashid Khan has had a scintillating outing in Big Bash League. Having played 61 innings since 2017, he has bagged 92 wickets at an economy of 6.44. He claimed his best figure of 6/17 in BBL in the previous edition. He also took the most wickets in a single season to jump as the seventh highest wicket-taker. He has left marks of his spins well on Australian pitches, which are considered pace friendly.
His experience and familiarity with Australian conditions will significantly threaten any opponent team in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Not only with the ball, he has also performed well as a handy batter, carrying a strike rate of 155.3 in 41 innings to accumulate 365 runs.
Reece Topley- England (2021-22)
In the current prime of his form, the bowler made his debut in Big Bash League with Melbourne renegades in 2021. The bowler returned with nine wickets in 7 innings, giving an economy of 8.36. Being a late addition to the last world cup as a replacement for Tymal Mills, the left-arm pacer has impressed everyone with his potential during the recent series, especially against India.
Among a few rare breeds of a left-arm seamer, Reece Topley will be a potent bowler who will use bounce and conditions in the best of his favour that will trouble the top-order of any team.
