Sunrisers Hyderbad back on the winning track

Despite the fact that the squad does not appear to be fearsome, their chances of winning the championship are as good as any other team, even after a terrible start.

Sunrisers Hyderabad didn’t have an ideal start to the season as they lost their first two matches against Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants, respectively. Still, one can easily make out that the team has learned a lot from the mistakes of these games as their performance in the last two games has been magnificent, and they have won both the games quite comfortably.  

There are many things that are going well for Sunrisers Hyderabad, and they are responsible for their Victory. Let’s have a look at two of them in detail:

First Wicket Partnership

The first wicket partnership is crucial in building a large total on the scoreboard. In a 20-overs contest, every cricket team wants the opening batters to sustain a high run rate so that the following batters can have a fearless hitting hand.

In both of the Sunrisers’ wins, Abhishek Sharma and Kane Williamson succeeded in making a 50-plus runs partnership which made chasing runs in both the game a cakewalk as the team got the momentum they sought for a successful run chase.

Williamson-Abhishek took the attack to the opposition bowlers and gave SRH a rollicking start making full use of the fielding restrictions. Both the openers are anchoring the innings very well and are critical factors for their franchise wins. Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma have also been awarded Player of the Match for their performance against Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans.

After a quiet start, the opening pair now seem to be coming into their power-hitting form, and there’s no doubt that if Hyderabad continues to produce this type of opening partnership, they will soon be seen at the top of the points table.

Good bowling performance

One of the main highlights of the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad is always their star-studded bowling line-up. The team, unfortunately, doesn’t have many stars this season, but they are still performing quite up to their expectations collectively as a bowling unit.

The bowling done by Sunrisers Hyderabad has been incredible as they successfully restricted opponents for a total of less than 170 in both matches. They, though, failed to perform in the first match of the season, which was against Rajasthan Royals, but since then, they have consistently been restricting opponents to a small total which is allowing their batters to play freely and take their time without any scoreboard pressure.

Natarajan has been outstanding in previous seasons of IPL or playing for India in all formats. He has impressed the cricketing elite ever since taken the field. The 31-year-old has quickly established himself as a death-over specialist. He is continuing his stellar form in IPL 2022 by bowling at the correct line and length at those crucial overs with a low economy, helping the team be in the competition till the last ball.
