Sunrisers Hyderabad make easy work of Royal Challengers Bangalore to cruise to 5th straight victory

Sunrisers Hyderabad demolished Virat Kohli and company with their unrelenting bowling prowess led by Marco Jansen.

Sunrisers Hyderabad wrapped up the star-studded Bangalore line-up at only 69 runs, as Faf du Plessis's team succumbed to the sixth-lowest total in IPL history.

Hyderabad then comfortably chased the minimal target of 69 runs in just 8 overs at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

Marco Jansen rattles Royal Challengers Bangalore's top order

After winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, Sunrisers Hyderbad had the dreamiest start ever. The first over went by with nothing significant to talk about. However, the second over of the first innings led to the foundation of Royal Challengers Bangalore's steady destruction by Sunrises Hyderabad.

Marco Jansen came to bowl the second over for the Sunrisers Hyderabad and swept the Royal Challengers Bangalore top-order right off their feet. He took out not one, not two, but three top-order batsmen in just five balls. Jansen's first victim was Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis, who got beaten by Jansen's delivery and edged the ball straight towards the off stump

It was then former captain and Indian stalwart Virat Kohli's turn, who once again worried his fans by getting out on a golden duck with nothing to offer his team. This time, Jansen's swing caught him as he edged the ball outside edge towards the slips.

To think that the over couldn't get better was a mistake as Jansen gave Hyderabad his last gift as he took out opener Anuj Rawat in the same way as Virat Kohli.

Royal Challengers Bangalore were crippled in the second over itself, but things only went down for Bangalore from here onwards. The score quickly went to 20 for 4 when Natarajan got Maxwell in the 5th over, caught at mid-off by Kane Williamson.

Maxwell was the first to reach double figures in the match, while the second player to reach double-figure was Suyash Prabhudesai, who got out at 15 off of 20 balls.

The score quickly reached 47 for 6 after nine overs after the dismissal of Shahbaz Ahmed at 7 runs and Dinesh Karthik for an unimpressive duck.

The tail-enders tried their best to take Royal Challengers Bangalore to a respectable score but could not do it as Natarajan, and Veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar came in to finish up.

The first innings concluded at a meagre score of 68 runs, the sixth-lowest total in the history of the IPL.

Abhishek Sharma leads Sunrisers Hyderabad to a quick win

The Sunrisers Hyderabad openers came onto the pitch with their head held high, knowing full well that they would lead their team to a comfortable win.

Opener Abhishek Sharma joined by skipper Kane Williamson added 64 runs to the scoreboard, with Sharma leading the charge with eight boundaries and 1 six to compliment his innings.

Meanwhile, Bangalore's only breakthrough came in the ultimate over when Abhishek Sharma, en route to his half-century, was caught trying to hit another one over the ropes on a slower ball by Harshal Patel. However, there was nothing left for the Royal Challengers to defend as Rahul Tripathi came in to chip a six and take the Sunrisers Hyderabad home

This win took Sunrisers Hyderabad to second place on the points table with 10 points coming from 5 consecutive wins. Now, Hyderabad will try to build on this streak against Gujarat Titans to displace them from the top. Whereas Royal Challengers Bangalore will face the in-form Rajasthan Royals a day before.
