A series of partnerships between South African batsmen
Bangladesh won the toss to field first. Captain Dean Elgar opened the innings with Sarel Erwee who gave a stable start to the team with their bats. They stitched a crucial partnership of 113 runs off 202 balls. Khaleel Ahmed broke the partnership by getting the skipper for a good length ball with the surprising bounce as he scored 67 off 101 for his team. Soon after Sarel Erwee got out as he fell 9 runs short of his half-century. Keegan Petersen saw early dismissal due to a run-out at 19. Temba Bavuma steered the team towards stability as they saw back-to-back three dismissals in quick succession. He partnered 38 runs with Ryan Rickelton who looked quite promising for the future with his batting. He debuted for South Africa today and scored 21 off 41. He was the sole wicket that South Africa lost in the final session.Temba Bavuma made an unbroken stand of 53 runs off 117 balls with Kyle Verreynne as they both scored 53 and 27 respectively to remain not out at the stumps.
So far, a good contest between both teams. All eyes are on Day 2.
Bangladesh bowlers had a loose start in the first session. However, they made a terrific comeback in the second session. Ebadot Hossain, Khaled Ahmed, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz took 1 wicket each by the end of the day. South Africa made the road to recovery in the third session after having a little fallout in the second.
Day 2 will resume from 233/4 on board at Kingsmead Durban. Bowlers must be excited for Day 2 as they will get a new ball post 3.1 overs tomorrow. South Africa will be looking to continue their form and score a decent lead for the visitors and expand the fifth wicket partnership of 53 runs to a higher score.
