SA20 League: Eight days to go until SA20; The T20 stars taking part

Here's a look at the players you can expect to see in the South African T20 league:

Jos Buttler

Jos Buttler is one of the greatest T20 batsmen in the cricketing world. He proved that at the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia, particularly in the semi-final win over India, when he led his side to the final with an unbeaten 80.

Buttler was signed to play for the Paarl Royals. As of December 22, they are joint-favourites with 3.5 points to win the trophy at the end of the inaugural season.

Buttler has plenty of experience in franchise cricket leagues, particularly in the IPL. The Rajasthan Royals will be hoping he can get them off to a fast start in their innings, and if he consistently plays his best cricket, he will be entertaining to watch over the five weeks.

David Miller

One of the best batters in world cricket, it was no surprise that South African David Miller attracted a lot of interest in the SA20 auction. He was bought by the Paarl Royals and will lead the team that includes Buttler, Obed McCoy, Lungi Ngidi, Jason Roy, and Eoin Morgan.

The former Kings XI Punjab international has been named in the 2021 ICC Men's T20I Team of the Year. He also had an outstanding year in 2022. The 33-year-old was part of the Titans' successes in the IPL while scoring his second T20I hundred against India in Guwahati in November.

Rashid Khan

Afghan all-rounder Rashid Khan has been selected by MI Cape Town as captain for the first year of the SA20. In Khan, they have a player who can pick wickets at crucial moments in a match and a batter who can be very dangerous with the bat.

Rashid is ranked second by the ICC in the T20 bowling rankings behind Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka. He has taken over 100 T20I wickets for his country and 400 in this game format in all competitions.

Rashid Khan has played in IPL, PSL, Big Bash, and Caribbean Premier League. He was part of the Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2022. He was named the Man of the Match in one of their IPL playoff wins and hopes to have more success in early 2023 in South Africa.

Kyle Mayers

Batsman Kyle Mayers plays all three game formats for the West Indies. In 2022, he scored two ODI hundreds. He scored the first against the Netherlands when he scored 120 in the last match of the series. He then scored 105 against New Zealand, as seen on the Reuters scorecard.

The Durban Super Giants signed Mayers in the new franchise cricket league. He will join international teammates Jason Holder and Johnson Charles in a strong team coached by Lance Klusener.

Mayers is one of the best batsmen in the world and can pick up wickets. As BBC documented in its match report, he scored a five-for against England in a Test match at St. George's in March. The Super Giants player will add to an already potent bowling attack.

Dewald Brevis

South African Dewald Brevis is an upcoming star for South African cricket. It has been an excellent year for the hard-hitting batsman. He scored 162 in a T20 match, the highest score by a player in this game format in South Africa.

Brevis will play for MI Cape Town during the SA20. He has been compared to South African legend AB de Villiers because of his batting style. The Mumbai Indians, St. Kitts, and Nevis Patriots player want to use the platform to show the world what he is capable of at the highest level.

The SA20 2023 final will take place on February 11 at Wanderers Stadium.
