Riyan Parag has the attitude of Virat Kohli and the skill of Riyan Parag
Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Riyan Parag courted controversy during the match against Lucknow Super Giants when he took a catch to dismiss Marcus Stoinis at the Brabourne Stadium on Sunday
While Titans fans were ecstatically celebrating the victory, Royals' all-rounder Riyan Parag on-field attitude grabbed fans' attention.
The youngster had one of his unfavorable outings against Gujarat Titans in the qualifier, and that frustration was reflective enough in his attitude. The two incidents that brought this to light are: Firstly, he got run out bizarrely due to a mix-up with Ravichandran Ashwin, which annoyed him, and he gave a stare to Ashwin, which irked fans. Further, Devdutt Padikkat failed to back the player on the field, which added to his frustration. And just then, his expression on-field left cricket fans with a moment to comment on his attitude. They compared his aggression to Virat Kohli's fire on-field while he is in play and brought up a contrast with what the young fellow has to offer compared to his attitude. The player has contributed just 168 runs in 13 innings at a meager average of 16.80.
Then, one of the fans commented on Twitter, "Riyan Parag has the attitude of Virat Kohli and the skill of Riyan Parag #RCB #GTvsRR #RRvsGT".
Another fellow schooled the all-rounder and wrote, "Any petition to send Riyan Parag back to school for some basic manners learning #RRvsGT".
"@ParagRiyan check ur stats in batting ur calling urself finisher /alrounder [all-rounder] all u do is catch practice," wrote another fan.
One of the fans even compared his attitude to that of Krunal Pandya. Krunal was also mocked for his on-field attitude. He wrote, "This Ryan Parag literally abused harshal Patel, padikkal, Siraj.
He mocked umpires unwantedly and didn't even get punished for it, Staring at Ashwin as if it was Ashwin's mistake.
Pipe down boy; you're not replicating Virat. You're way worse than krunal."
While some cricket fans saw aggression and attitude in his gestures, some took it as his intensity and passion for the game. Well, that's how fans are. They notice everything on and off-field. They do tend to measure a player's conduct owing to their performance. Any aggression shown by a player who has proved himself goes fine with them as they tend to accept their highs and lows more easily.
