Ranking teams based on their Power Hitters
If we have to describe IPL 2022 in one word then it would be “mega entertainment”
The fast-paced 20-over game is action-packed up to the brim and with almost all the rockstar players of world cricket coming together, you can be sure that there will be no space for anything mundane. And in cricket, one of the most exciting things to watch is a batsman hitting rampantly.
With the shortest format already eschewed in the favour of the batter, there is no dearth of power hitters in IPL which can take the game away from any team in a matter of just an over. So here let's rate the teams as per their hitting prowess.
10- Lucknow Supergiants (LSG)
This is the debut season for LSG in the IPL and they have managed to create a very balanced team in the auction. Their team includes a decent number of power hitters like Marcus Stoinis and Jason Holder. Right at the top, their captain is also a masterful striker of the cricket ball. They also have Deepak Hooda in the deep and Krunal Pandya who had a great last season with Mumbai.
9- Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
RCB suffered a great loss due to the retirement of AB De Villiers. But they still have a good batting lineup. Their main hitter is Glenn Maxwell, who had a great last season And has a brilliant strike rate of 151.84 in IPL. They also acquired Dinesh Kartik this year who is very proficient down the order and their new skipper Faf Du Plessis is also a destructive player. Last but not least they have King Kohli who can make any bowling attack his own if he is in form.
8- Delhi Capitals (DC)
Delhi’s main hammer is their captain Rishabh Pant, who has made a name for himself as being ruthless. They also have the services of 3 times orange cap winner David Warner who is nicknamed ‘pocket dynamite’ for a reason. This year they have also acquired Rovman Powell to have some Caribbean muscle in the hustle.
7- Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)
To everyone’s surprise, SRH let go of David Warner in this year’s auction. But despite this, they have managed to accumulate good hitters like Nicholas Pooran. The Caribbean is currently in the form of his life and is a nightmare for bowlers. They also recruited young Kashmiri power hitter Abdul Samad and Romario Shephard to bolster the inning down the order.
6- Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
CSK is experimenting with a new captainship this year. This team has the biggest and the coldest finisher that ever excited in the form of MS Dhoni. He may be getting old but he still holds the power to take home unbelievable odds. Another hitter that Chennai will bank on is Jaddu, whose batting has improved tremendously in the past few seasons and he now causes absolute mayhem down the order.
5- Gujarat Titans (GT)
This is also the debut season for GT in the IPL. They are led by Hardik Pandya who himself is a great finishing batsman and can hit sixes effortlessly. He Is the top Indian player in the number of sixes hit in IPL and 3rd overall. They also have David Miller aka Killer Miller who can burst into a six-hitting machine anytime. The finishing role for them will be handled by Rahul Tewatia, whose innovative stroke-making was on full display last season.
4- Punjab Kings (PBKS)
PBKS also witnessed a change of leadership this season with Mayank Aggarwal as the new captain. The responsibility of decimating opposition attacks for them this season falls on Liam Livingstone. He has a lot of experience and can bat anywhere. They also have the option of Shahrukh Khan and last but not least they have the Gabbar aka Shikhar Dhawan.
3- Mumbai Indians
The most successful franchise in the history of IPL has no dearth of big hitters. The biggest of them all is Kieron Pollard who is serving the franchise for many seasons now. They also have Suryakumar Yadav who is in sublime form lately and can be quite explosive. Opener Ishan Kishan is also a fearless striker of the ball and no comments need to be made about the hitman Rohit Sharma. This season they have also acquired Tim David and Daniel Sams to provide some extra power down the order.
2- Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
KKR have chosen Shreyas Iyer as their captain, who is an all-rounder batsman and an absolute juggernaut against spin bowling. They also have the best power hitter of the last few seasons of IPL, Andre Russell aka Russell the muscle. If Russell is in the zone then u can bowl anywhere but they all will land in the stands. He has single-handedly won many matches for KKR in the past few seasons. They also bought Aaron Finch, who is one of the most successful T20 batsmen.
1- Rajasthan Royals (RR)
RR looks very strong on paper this year with a side studded with match winners. But their power-hitting department has 2 of the most bankable hitters in the T20 format in the world. They have Shimron Hetmyer who has been consistent throughout his career and has a strike rate of 151 in IPL. But an even bigger threat to the opposition bowling attack is the English wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler. He can open the innings, play a stabilising role in the middle order, and can finish like a rockstar. He has a career strike rate of over 150 in IPL. With these 2 monster hitters in the lineup, RR can do some serious damage.
