Rajasthan Royals: Team with consistency and performers’ over the years
In the fifteenth edition of IPL, Rajasthan Royals have built a formidable team. They retained their key players in Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler, and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
During auctions, they have selected 21 players, including Devdutt Padikkal. Yuzvendra Chahal, Navdeep Saini, Trent Boult, and Daryl Mithcell, to name a few. Prasidh Krishna was their most expensive pick for a whopping INR 10 crore.
While till last year, Rajasthan Royals looked to be a team of fresh cricket faces, this year, they have a balanced squad of new talent and experienced domestic and overseas players. Here are the team's strengths that have imparted consistency to the team and make them one of the most challenging teams to defeat. The team has won two of their three matches played clinically.
In-form aggressive Jos Buttler's consistent batting
A team whose opener is breathing fire boosts overall team performance. Just a few months ago, Jos Buttler struggled in the Ashes. And now, after a few months, in the IPL, Jos Buttler is ruling again with his attacking form in the season. T20 cricket always brings the best out of him. He became the first player to score a ton in IPL 2022 to help his team register a 23-run victory over the Mumbai Indians. After this, he again emerged as the top scorer for his team, scoring 47-ball 70. His consistent performance made him the Orange Cap holder for the IPL 2022 season, with 205 runs to his name in three matches.
Assurance of heavy muscle power in mid - Shimron Hetmyer
Shimron Hetmyer, who was bought by shredding INR 8.5 crores by the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2022 mega auction, can finish games in the middle order. And this is one of the reasons for his high price tag. Shimron Hetmyer played for the Delhi Capitals in the previous IPL season and had a new role as a middle-order power hitter in which he excelled. He scored 242 runs at an average of 34 runs in that season. So, the presence of such muscle power in the middle order has lifted the team's confidence.
