QUIZ: how well can you remember the first ever IPL match from back in 2008
The 15th season of the Indian Premier League gets underway this weekend - but how well can you remember the first ever IPL match from back in 2008?
Chennai Super Kings kick off IPL 15 against Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday as they look to defend the title they won for a fourth time last season.
New franchises Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans have been added to a 10-team league and will meet on Monday, but how well can you remember the first ever IPL match from back in 2008?
Kolkata Knight Riders were involved in that season opener, too, beating Royal Challengers Bangalore, and your challenge is to name their line-up from the evening.
KKR batted first and racked up a huge score of 222/3 from their 20 overs before bowling out RCB for a paltry 82 runs in 15.1 overs to win by 140 runs.
One of KKR's openers alone scored an unbeaten 158 from 73 balls to earn himself the Player of the Match award, but you are required to name all 11 of their players, including the six who never even needed to don their pads.
They are listed in order, and the numbers next to the asterisks indicate the length of each player's surname, but you can click the hint button if you are struggling to have the first letter of an answer revealed.
Despite their impressive opening victory, KKR ultimately finished sixth in the eight-team league, one place above RCB, with neither side making the play-offs.
The Knight Riders have won the IPL twice, though, in 2012 and 2014, with RCB yet to lift the title but finishing as runners-up on three occasions.
