The New Zealanders had to toil in the sun all day, but they returned with a smile.
As the second new ball got older, it started to find some support from the deck.
Spinners Ajaz Patel and Ish Sodhi bowled in tandem, which finally paid off when Patel got rid of Agha Salman.
Sodhi and Patel combined to take four wickets - two each. This will surely revive the visitors' hopes, and they will be eager to get the last wicket early on day four.
The Kiwis may feel they have the edge here, although there is still a long way to go to get a concrete result.
