Legends League Cricket: Three League of Legends players India will always miss in the T20 World Cup
T20 World Cup is a tournament that has been an event which has always been close to all Indian fans. The World Cup is a tournament where a team goes with the best of their talent
In 2007, when MS Dhoni and his men scripted history to become the first-ever team to win this prestigious tournament, it changed the value of Indian cricket and paved the way for India's most loved domestic league, IPL.
While 2007 was still a young Indian squad, the 2011 Cricket World Cup, which India won, saw the best Indian talents in their team. The squad had everyone from Sachin Tendulkar to Zaheer Khan and young Virat Kohli to MS Dhoni.
Eleven years later, the eighth T20 World Cup will start on 16 October in Australia, and India's 15-member squad is ready. But there are three players from the League of Legends that everyone would have loved to see on crease once again in the upcoming World Cup 2022:
Sachin Tendulkar
Talk about Indian openers, and one name that instils faith and confidence to give India a rock-solid start is Sachin Tendulkar. In his career span, we have seen him dressed in Blue for 664 international matches, and to date, his aura remains unmatched.
There hasn't been an opener as good as him. With India struggling in their top order, he would have been a perfect player to see there. While he has majorly played the 50-over format, he has stunning numbers in the IPL. Having played 76 IPL matches, he has scored 2281 runs, consisting of 1 century and 13 half-centuries. He has a strike rate of 119.82 and an average of 34.84 in the format, which makes him an excellent fit for the spot.
Irfan Pathan
One of the most talented swings and seam bowlers who left everyone in awe with his all-rounding skills while playing for India still holds everyone's sight when he plays in other legends' tournaments.
In the 10 T20I World Cup innings, he played with a strike rate of 116.21 and scalped six wickets with a terrific economy of 7.46. His spell of 3/16 in the world cup final against Pakistan remains one of his favourite innings. With the balance he carries as a clean ball-striker and sensible batting approach, this type of all-rounder will be a delight to watch in the current World Cup.
Yuvraj Singh
One person who assures to hit the ball as clean and long as it can ever be hit is only him. Would India ever be in the dilemma of a finisher with Yuvraj Singh to end the inning for the Men in Blue? Former India's middle-order lynchpin, who used to build crucial partnerships with other batters, would have been one of the hot picks for World Cup 2022.
With the highest score of 70 in the T20 World Cup, he has accumulated 593 runs in 28 innings for the team. Thirty-eight boundaries and 33 maximums speak volumes of what destruction he could have done to the opposition bowlers in today's time.
