IPL 2022 Final, The battle between Buttler vs Miller, who will triumph in this battle
The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League is all set to conclude tonight with the final between the two best teams that emerged this season, Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals
While many veterans found their form back in this season, we saw debutants dining the hats of match-winners. Every team requires players of different traits to form a complete package. A calm and yet aggressive opener, an anchoring role player in the middle, sometimes a furious hitter in the end. And today's match is going to see a battle between two such people playing for opposite teams: Jos Buttler, a calm and successful opener for RR, and rendition of David Miller as an aggressive finisher.
Buttler's sublime form as opener
Jos Buttler is the leading run-scorer this season. He has scored 824 runs with an average of 58 and a brilliant strike rate of 151.47. He has equaled the record of Virat Kohli for scoring the most centuries in a season and might chase to beat this record in the finals. The batter likes to bide his time before exploding. Once in a mood to hit, he doesn't stop punishing the bowlers from the beginning. Though he is unforgiving against pace, he will have to face one of the most challenging battles in the new ball bowling attack of GT in the form of Mohammed Shami, Yash Dayal and Alzarri Joseph. Apart from the new ball, he has a threat in the form of Rashid Khan in opposition as the batter has been able to score 24 runs off 39 deliveries averaging at eight against the world-class spinner. So, getting Buttler out early will be the key as Rajasthan Royals heavily depend on him.
The revelation of Miller as a finisher
This season of IPL has been a revelation for the batter as he has emerged as the vital batter for the new franchise, fitting well in the most crucial role as a finisher. Like Buttler, who likes to start slow until in the mood to hit, the South African star batter David Miller in the middle order is also a slow starter but can sprint away in any situation. One of his best has been in Qualifier 1, where Miller went on a blitzkrieg to score 68 off just 38 balls and take his team to the finals. Though he has given many scintillating finishes this season, the South African batter has a nick to be troubled by Ravichandran Ashwin. Besides Ashwin, Chahal has dismissed Miller thrice and would be a severe threat to the batter.
David Miller has scored 449 runs in 15 innings at a brilliant strike rate of 141.49 in the season so far. He has showcased that he has plenty of cricket left in him with his finishes.
For RR, it's their first final after 2008, and for GT, it's their first-ever last. Both teams will have the same intensity and drive towards winning. While Jos Buttler's opening knock has carried RR to the finals, David Miller's finishing knocks have helped GT sail to their maiden finals. Buttler and Miller have been the significant factor in their teams' victory, so whoever among these two gets his game on the spot is expected to win the IPL 2022 cup.
