IPL 2022 Dugout News: David Miller says ‘Sorry’ to its former IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals after GT defeated RR in Qualifier 1
Killer-Miller feels backed, After helping his team, Gujarat Titans, to seal a spot in the final of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League
David Miller said that continuous backing from the team had significantly improved his game this season. The batter went unsold in the first round of the auction. And here he is, playing match-winning knocks for his team to help them reach the finals. He played a swashbuckling knock of 68 off 38 balls alongside skipper Hardik Pandya who scored 40 off 27. Their knocks helped the new team reach the final in their inaugural edition.
Ashwin's delivery clocked 131 kmph In the first qualifier, Rajasthan Royals ended up on the losing side after going down by seven wickets to Gujarat Titans at Eden Gardens. The match was intense, but plenty of moments gave Rajasthan fans a reason to smile. The one which grabbed everyone's attention was a speed gun showing Ashwin's delivery clocking 131 kph.
This left fans stunned and wondering how the off-spinner could clock such a speed. However, the speed gun went wrong in the bowler's over. Some fans hilariously remarked that 150 kph delivery from Ashwin could be loading soon, considering how he is evolving with his performance and can even beat Shoaib Akhtar's fastest ball record.
Some of the hilarious tweets read as:
One fan tweeted, "Ashwin has experimented with his action and release point so much that he has become a medium pacer".
While another fan remarked, "He wants to win Swiggy Instamart Fastest Delivery".
"Kahi Shoaib Akhtar ka record Aswin [Ashwin] hi na tod de", reads another tweet thread.
Riyan Parag's on-field attitude and antics
Rajasthan Royals' young finisher Riyan Parag has been the talk of the town for his on-field mannerism. Riyan Parag's attitude at the Eden Gardens during Qualifier 1 on Tuesday drew reactions. He was spotted yelling at Devdutt Padikkal for not backing up, and then he showed his disgust towards Ravichandran Ashwin after a mix-up in the final over.
Mumbai Indians batter Suryakumar Yadav took to Twitter and wrote, "Amazing attitude on the field #riyanparag #RRvGT".
However, it didn't go well with the fans, who abruptly reacted.
One of the fan's tweets reads, "Showing aggression to senior players is amazing attitude?? Common Surya we expect better views from you".
Before the qualifier as well, in a match against Lucknow Super Giants, the young fellow got into controversy when he took a catch of Marcus Stoinis in the final over. The batter tried to hit the ball over the rope; however, Parag was there on long-on, who made a bit of a show as he pretended to touch the ball to the ground nearly. The gesture didn't go well with commentators as it mocked the third umpire.
Matthew Hayden, who was doing commentary, said, "I have got some advice for you, young man, cricket is a very, very long game, and we all have very long memories. Never ever tempt fate because it comes around quickly."
"Future will determine that," said former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop, who was in the box with Hayden when replays showed Parag's gesture.
A fan tweeted, "Too much arrogance for a 20-21-year-old. That act of mocking the third umpire's decision was shameless," a fan tweeted."
Despite being slammed for his careless gesture, Riyan Parag wrote, "No one's gonna care in 20 years, soooo much more to life.... enjoy it."
Gujarat Titans and fans will now wait to see who among Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore will join Rajasthan Royals in qualifier 2.
