IPL 2022: Bowlers with the best strike rate
The IPL 2022 season is almost over, with three franchises confirming their playoffs spots: Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, and Rajasthan Royals. The match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals will determine the fourth berth
In a T20 tournament like the IPL, bowlers have a difficult job. They only have four overs to demonstrate their strength. Furthermore, batters are continually trying to smash quickfire hits, bowlers are also frequently hitting for many runs. Some bowlers, though, have emerged as significant wicket-takers in the event. In contrast, other bowlers have succeeded in getting wickets for the team and maintaining a reasonable strike rate, which is crucial in a short format like IPL as it completely changes the game's momentum.
Let's have a look at the top five bowlers in the Indian Premier League 2022 in terms of strike rates:
Andre Russell
This season, Andre Rusell has returned from injury and seems wholly recovered as he performed for Kolkata Knight Riders. Russell tried his best to make KKR qualify as he was the most consistent player for them.
He is also at the top of the list of bowlers with a reasonable strike rate. In this IPL, the West Indies all-rounder has a strike rate of 9.94 while bowling. The Windies legend has played all 14 matches for Kolkata Knight Riders in 2022 IPL and taken 17 wickets at an average of 16.35 with an economy of 9.86.
Kagiso Rabada
South Africa's greatest pace bowler, Kagiso Rabada, has established himself as a force to be reckoned with thanks to his spectacular fast bowling and toe-crushing yorkers. The 26-year-old is Punjab's most experienced speed bowler and performs up to his standards.
In this IPL season, the South African bowler has a strike rate of 12.0. So far in this tournament, the right-arm pacer has been very effective for his new team Punjab Kings; the pace batter has played 12 games and has taken 22 wickets in those games at a strike rate of 12. He has an economy of 8.36.
Dwayne Bravo
Dj Bravo is always in the headlines of IPL, be it due to his celebration, bowling, or batting. All-rounder had a great IPL season with the ball resulting in low scores for the Chennai Super Kings.
Dwayne Bravo has shown his wicket-taking capabilities with an overall strike rate of 17.01 in his IPL career. So far, the right-arm bowler has played ten games and taken 16 wickets at a strike rate of 12.87. Also, the bowler has been very economical this season, too, as he has an economy of 8.7.
Wanindu Hasaranga
Wanindu Hasaranga, Sri Lanka's best white-ball cricketer, creates waves for Royal Challengers Banglore in IPL 2022. The spinner has made many great batters suffer as it's difficult to judge his ball.
Wanindu Hasaranga is ranked second on this list. In the Indian Premier League, the Sri Lankan spinner had a strike rate of 12.25. So far in the tournament, the right-arm bowler has 24 wickets, averaging 15.08 in 14 matches. This is Wanindu's first IPL season, and he has performed way better than expected. The bowler is on the list of purple cap holders, and there's a high chance of him ending with a purple cap in this season of IPL.
Yuzvendra Chahal
The Indian spinner was not a part of the T20 World Cup held in 2021 and was not retained by his former franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore. The bowler made a much-needed comeback this season.
The Indian spinner already has 26 wickets at an average of 16.53 in 14 matches he has been part of. The bowler also has a strike rate of 12.92 and a good economy of 7.67. He is the current purple cap holder of IPL as he has performed exceptionally well for his new team Rajasthan Royals.
