India VS South Africa T20I: Three match winners in the South African team
South Africa has emerged as a good side in the T20 format in the past few years. In the 2021 World Cup, they put forward a stellar competition for other teams, winning four of their five league matches
They even gave formidable performances on bilateral series to follow across the globe. Now they will come to the T20 World Cup 2022 with a chip on their shoulders to prove their worth.
In the squad announced, one of the most notable omissions in the form of Rassie van der Dussen came as a massive blow as he continues to recover from the finger injury he caught in England. But the team still has three notable match-winning players for them in World Cup:
David Miller
The left-handed middle-order batter is known for his power-hitting. The explosive batter was seen relishing his time in IPL 2022 for Gujarat Titans after having a series of poor performances for his national side. But since then, having realise his strengths and perfect position to bat on, he looks more comfortable on the crease.
Having played 11 innings in the World Cup since 2014, he has scored 176 runs with a strike rate of 141.93. The average seems to be low as he majorly batted at number six, but after seeing him play attacking at the fourth or fifth spot, Proteas will like to utilise him as a proper middle-order match winner who can turn games around. He’s doing great in the global domestic leagues and will be a tremendous match-winning asset for South Africa.
Anrich Nortje
Amongst the rich reserves of South African fast bowlers, Anrich Nortje is one of the most genuine quick bowlers. Tall, pacy, combined with his penchant to bowl yorkers, makes him a quintessential cricketer for white-ball formats.
He has always made a solid comeback for his team in a career affected by injuries. Playing in the T20 World Cup in 2021, he scalped nine wickets in five matches at a stunning economy of 5.37 in UAE. Though the bowler hasn’t played even a single international game in Australia yet, the bouncy pitch track of Australia will be a perfect platform for a pacer like him to take advantage of and take his team to glorious wins.
Rilee Rossouw
An elegant and authoritative top-order batter who has proved his worth as a high-impact batter for South Africa in limited overs format is a potential match winner for his team. His 458 runs from 17 innings with a strike rate of 145.85 speaks volumes of his capabilities.
The 32 years old has played in just about every league worldwide and thus brings invaluable experience to the batting line-up that can take them up a notch. Returning to international cricket after six years, he smashed an unbeaten 96 off 55 against England to show he still has a lot of cricket left in him. The T20 World Cup will be a perfect platform for him to establish himself as a game-changer for South Africa.
