Gautam Gambhir half-century in vain as India Maharajas lose to Asia Lions in Legends League Cricket Masters
The Asia Lions beat the India Maharajas by nine runs in Friday's Legends League Cricket Masters fixture at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha.
Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq struck 73 from 50 deliveries in the Lions' total of 165 for six in 20 overs. His innings featured four sixes.
Former Sri Lanka batsman Upul Tharanga collected 40 at the top of the order.
Seamers Parvinda Awana and Stuart Binny took two wickets each for the Maharajas.
The Maharajas' reply reached 156 for eight in 20 overs as captain and opener Gautam Gambhir hit 54 from 39 balls, including seven fours.
Former India batsmen Murali Vijay and Mohammad Kaif collected 25 and 22, respectively.
Pakistan seamer Sohail Tanvir took three wickets for the Lions.
Misbah was named player of the match.
The tri-series also includes the World Giants, whose squad includes Australia's Aaron Finch and Brett Lee, West Indies Chris Gayle and Lendl Simmons and South Africa's Hashim Amla and Jacques Kallis.
