Four key players will be missing for New Zealand in upcoming T20I and ODI series
It has been confirmed by head coach Gary Stead that the New Zealand players who are competing in the IPL 2022 season will not be available for the T20I and ODI series against the Netherlands, which begins on Monday.
Stead confirmed that Kane Williamson, Jimmy Neesham, Lockie Ferguson and Trent Boult are among the players who will miss out on the Netherlands tour. This is due to the players' IPL commitments, with the Sunrisers Hyderabad being led by Williamson, while the Rajasthan Royals will feature Neesham, Boult and Daryl Mitchell.
This season's Indian Premier League is just around the corner, and some of New Zealand's top players will be taking part. Stead listed the players who will not be attending the Netherlands series in this context, believing that these individuals who cannot face the Netherlands could still serve as the foundation for any team they may construct going forward, This suggests they will have the opportunity of participating in the forthcoming World Cup, which takes place in October.
The coach acknowledged that this means that some of their best names are unavailable, so they must build a second squad without those individuals.
There's a conflict between cricket boards and IPL on the schedule part. During IPL season key players for franchise are in conflict to represent IPL team or country . They play either in group stage or in knock out stages in IPL.
The coach verified the New Zealand players' availability in the early parts of the game, but there is still some doubt about their availability in the knockout phases of the IPL. The IPL league matches are expected to conclude on May 22. The knockout matches will take place after, with the championship match taking place on May 29.
However, around the same time, the New Zealand team will embark on a three-match Test series in England. On June 2, the first Test will be held at Lord's. Following this series, New Zealand will play a three-match ODI and T20I series in Ireland before preparation for the T20I World Cup in October 2022.
The New Zealand cricket team will have a hectic year. As a result, the coach feels optimistic about the players' hard work and improvement throughout the course of the year. However, the presence of players from both New Zealand and English teams in the knockout stages of the Indian Premier League in 2022 is unknown.
