Pakistan vs England: Player rankings from second Test
England defeated Pakistan by 26 runs in the second Test in Multan, giving them a 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Second Test Match Rankings
Pakistan
Abdullah Shafique (14 & 45): Leach and Wood's outstanding deliveries stopped both his inning starts, and Shafique's excellent catch to get rid of Root at short leg. 5/10
Imam ul-Haq (0 & 60): Despite the surface having some pace on the first day, Imam ul-Haq managed to edge Anderson behind without scoring, and he played brilliantly in the second innings. 5/10
Babar Azam (75 and 1) was twice bowled by Robinson in-nippers, once through a powerful drive and once as he turned to leave. He also captained more assertively than in Rawalpindi. 6/10
Saud Shakeel (63 & 94): Saud Shakeel played wonderfully in both innings, showing patience that indicates he will have a fine Test career. However, when he was well-positioned in the first innings, he momentarily lost his cool by chipping to mid-on. 7/10
Mohammad Rizwan (10 & 30): Like Shafique, Rizwan's first-innings performance lacked rhythm and took a long time to get going. Like Shafique, Rizwan was also undone by superb bowling in both innings; after being inserted as an emergency opener in the second, he was struck by an Anderson jaffa. 5/10
(4 & 20* 0-5) Agha Salman ran out of partners as he made fruitless attempts to control a frail tail. 4/10
Mohammad Nawaz (1 and 45; 0-46 and 1-42) Pakistan made a wise acquisition by giving Babar more control with the ball and a valuable bat contribution in the second innings. 3/10
Faheem Ashraf (0-16 & 0-12; 22 & 10): There was no need for a supporting seamer of his kind on the pitch; he made an effort and cameo with the bat. 3/10
Mohammad Ali was ineffective with the ball in both innings, going 0 and 0; 0 & 29; and 0 & 44, as Pakistan got 20 wickets with spin. 3/10
Zahid Mahmood (67* & 17) continues to collect wickets in this series even though England continues to challenge him. On both occasions, he cleaned up the visitors' tails. 6/10
Abrar Ahmed made the debut of his dreams, bamboozling England in both innings to finish with 11 wickets in the game; at one point, he had all seven to have fallen in the first innings and was on for all 10 - undoubtedly the beginning of an exciting career; played his version of Bazball in a chaotic cameo at the end (7-114 & 4-120). 9/10
England
Ben Duckett (63 & 79): He gave England great starts in both innings, helping to rebuild each time despite early wickets. He was out to Abrar both times and will feel he should have turned at least one of those starts into a hundred. 7/10
Abrar's excellent googly on an opening morning set the tone for everything that came after, undid Zak Crawley (19 and 3), and he ran out in the second innings. 6/10
Ollie Pope (60 & 4): An adventurous half-century in the opening session of the game, with a lot of reverse-sweeping; lowered down the order in the second innings to give him a chance to recover after keeping wicket; nonetheless, he tired himself out. 6/10
Harry Brook (9 & 108): Fantastic century in the second innings, showcasing all of Brook's best traits, especially the capacity to take up length off the spinner and pull him over the legside. 8.5/

Ben Stokes (30 & 41): He was defeated by a brilliant googly on day one and was caught slog-sweeping on day three. He didn't bowl that day to save his wobbling knee. Superb captaincy. 9/10
Will Jacks: The most likely candidate to replace Foakes, he (31 and 4; 0-18 and 0-15), was used rarely with the ball and lacked control when he did bowl. He was out slog-sweeping in both innings, the second of which came at No. Three as he stood in for Pope. 4/10
Ollie Robinson (5 & 3; 1-2 & 2-23): He may not have bowled a lot, but when he did, he put on an impressive display. Took out Babar in both innings. 7.5/10
Mark Wood (36* & 6; 2-40 & 4-65) changed the match's outcome by dismissing Nawaz and Shakeel, who were crucial for England on a flat pitch. 8/10
Jack Leach struggled when the pitch flattened, and Pakistan filled their middle order with left-handers. He claimed his 100th Test wicket in the first inning 8/10
James Anderson (7 & 4; 1-16 & 2-44) made a masterful effort on a surface where his abilities shouldn't have received much support. He bowled one of his best deliveries to dismiss Rizwan. 7.5/10
