England Vs New Zealand 3rd Test: Will it be 3-0 for the hosts?
After winning the first two tests, the mighty English team now has a significant opportunity to clean-sweep visitor New Zealand under the leadership of newly appointed captain Ben Stokes
The team had an outstanding start to the campaign as they sealed a perfect win over the opponents by five wickets. After the first match, the second match tested all the adrenaline as we witnessed a nail-biting battle between the two superpowers of cricket. After an exciting win in the second test, the English team will lock horns against New Zealand for Thursday's third and final Test at Headingley Stadium, Leeds.
Things seem great for the hosts; Ben Stokes' illness is still a concern!
Under the new captain and coach, it was a big challenge for the England team as things seemed quite unstable on the management board as well. However, the way the team has performed and went against all odds in the two tests is fascinating. This momentum will surely be an extra hand for the team, which will mentally help them in the third test. Johnny Bairstow's red hot form will be England's strength and can surely help the team register a good target on the scoreboard. However, a big concern for the team will be the illness of their skipper, Ben Stokes. The skipper will likely miss the third test due to health issues, and in his absence, it will be a massive challenge for the middle order to play his role. As no vice-captain is assigned, former skipper Joe Root might lead the team in Ben Stokes' absence. In the bowling department, with James Anderson rested, the team has its mighty duo of Stuart Broad and Jack Leech, which will be a considerable obstacle for the opponents. With a balanced team and the lightning form of some players, the hosts seem pretty strong for the third test.
Will Kiwis restore their pride?
Talking about the Kiwis, the team is going through a rough phase as they have lost the two tests resulting in their series loss. The team played exceptionally well in the second test; however, they lost due to some outstanding individual performances by the hosts. Although the team's batting line-up collapsed in the first test, their performance in the second test is worth appreciation. The team has a solid middle order which will sail their ship even in the most demanding situations. Daryl Mitchell seems in a good flow as the batter scored 190 runs in the first inning of the second test. The team is filled with plenty of match-winners who can help the team to register a good score. Openers, however, are a big concern for the tea as the opening partnership hasn't been satisfactory since the start of the series. Kane Williamson's dismal form remains a concern for the Kiwis as he was pretty disappointed in the first test. The New Zealand bowling line-up seems strong as their two prime pacers, Tim Southee and Trent Boult, are in a good rhythm which will be a significant asset for the Kiwis in the third test.
