Rohit Sharma: India 'prepared to have a good grind' in World Test Championship final
Captain Rohit Sharma has reminded India to expect "challenging conditions" during this week's World Test Championship final against Australia in England.
The final will be played at The Oval in London. The winner will succeed New Zealand as the World Test Championship title holders.
"In England, as long as you are prepared to have a good grind, you know, you can have some success as a batter," said Sharma, who struck a Test century against England at The Oval two years ago.
"One thing I realised batting in 2021 was you are never in actually because the weather keeps changing a lot.
"So you have to keep concentrating for longer periods of time and that is the challenge of this format. You know, you'll get that message or you can get that intuition when is your time to take the bowler on and that is when you should be ready for it and more importantly, you need to be there."
Sharma, who averages 42.36 in 12 Test innings in England, will be accompanied by former captain Virat Kohli and recent Sussex recruit Cheteshwar Pujara in India's batting order.
"As we know that this is probably one of the best batting wickets as well," he added.
"You get value for your shots, the square boundaries are quite quick. So it's just about giving yourself the best chance of having success, which is to concentrate for longer periods of time."
