Hosts are trailing the series by 2-1. While their players Brandon King and Kyle Mayers have found some form, others in the engine of the batting room looked to struggle. Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell haven’t yet been able to pull justice to their roles.
West Indies would be tempted to go unchanged as their playing XI is one of the strongest considering squads but have the option to include Keemo Paul or Shamarh Brooks to add depth and strength to their struggling middle order. They can also consider calling in Odean Smith in place of Devon Thomas.
Have West indies found a T20 replacement for retired all-round stars (Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo)
After the retirement of the West Indies legend Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo, the squad was in search of players who could step in their shoes and take responsibility.
West Indies has always been a country filled with exceptional talent and probably found suitable replacements.
Kyle Mayers
The current opening batter has raised his name with his exceptional performance in the last few series. He has consistently hit the ball out of boundaries and comes in handy in taking wickets with his medium-fast bowling.
His seamless, powerful shots against seamers bring a lot of well-controlled muscle power that has impressed everyone with his capabilities. With a strike rate of 143.51 as an opener in T20Is, he is one of the best fits for the team.
As a bowler, though, he has remained wicketless but comes in handy with his economical bowling to restrict opponent batters.
Keemo Paul
Blocked by the cricketing world owing to a mankading incident in his U-19 days, West Indies couldn’t ignore him entirely due to his skill-set. He is identified as one of the talented fast-bowlers and has decent stats with the bat to entitle him as the all-rounder that West Indies needed.
From taking 25 wickets in 22 games at an economy of 9.01 and accumulating 187 runs in 15 innings, he comes in handy with the bat down the order.
Given good chances and exposure, this player can turn into one of the most significant assets of the West Indies squad.
