Dinesh Karthik: "I am not done yet."
Dinesh Karthik produced a mesmerizing performance with his bat to play the finishing knock for his new franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore. His latest performance helped Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Rajasthan Royals by four wickets.
Dinesh Karthik has displayed an astounding act as the finisher for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the last three matches and has not been dismissed yet in TATA IPL 2022.
Dinesh Karthik has never been a scheme of things for Indian cricket, and yesterday in a post-match presentation, he emphasized how he tells himself that 'I'm not done yet'. With the required run-rate soaring last night, Dinesh Karthik donned the hat of the master chaser to pull the team to the winning end with the help of Shahbaz Ahmed.
"I made a conscious effort to do justice to myself. I felt I could have done better in the last few years. The way I've trained has been different. I was telling myself I'm not done yet. I have a goal, and I want to achieve something," said Dinesh Karthik during the post-match presentation.
Dinesh Karthik: Player with a lot of talent.
While Dinesh Karthik has been gathering a lot of praises lately, the player could never actually do justice to the talent that he carries. He tried balancing all his acts as he switched roles between keeping, batting and leading the side with earlier franchise Kolkata Knight Riders effortlessly but was stripped off the captaincy responsibilities in mid of IPL 2020. In that particular season, he averaged about 14.08 runs and faced a lot of ire from fans and critics on his performance. In a post-match statement, he admitted that he couldn't put up the kind of performance he should've had last year, which is why he trained differently, making a constant effort to put up a better show this time around.
A dream to represent India in another World Cup.
Apart from IPL 2020, the player was last seen in Indian colors at the semi-final of the World Cup 2019. He was having a rough career patch at that time and was dropped from the squad for upcoming matches. However, Dinesh Karthik expressed his intentions to represent India in the World Cup one more time. He said, "I want to play the sport as long as I am fit. I want to represent India in at least one World Cup of the next two. I think one is in Dubai, and the next is in Australia. I had a fab time with the Indian T20 team till the time I was dropped due to an unsuccessful World Cup campaign," Dinesh Karthik said on the 22 Yarns podcast hosted by Gaurav Kapur.
'I'm not done yet' is probably a sign of warning for the other franchises this IPL season. The player has clearly poured out his intentions to be the best for his team. The message can also be for the selectors expressing that he has a lot of game left in him for the World Cup and is awaiting the chance.
