Cricket News: West Indies Name 13-Man Squad For ODI Series Against India
In today's announcement, Cricket West Indies (CWI) Senior Men's Selection Panel announced the 13-player squad that will take on India in the three-match CG United ODI Series in Trinidad
A trophy for CG United will be up for grabs. The three games will be played on Friday, July 22, Sunday, July 24, and Wednesday, July 27 at the storied Queen's Park Oval. All games start at 9:30 am (8:30 am in Jamaica and 7:00 pm in India).
The veteran all-rounder Jason Holder was called up by the selection committee after missing the Bangladesh Series in order to help him manage his workload as one of the West Indies' all-format players.
Jason Holder Joins The West Indies Team
"Jason is one of the best all-around cricket players in the world, as we all know, and we're glad to have him back on the team. We can anticipate seeing his brilliance on the field as well as significant accomplishments off the field since he will be revived, reenergized, and ready to go. We played three really difficult matches against Bangladesh in Guyana, so we'll be hoping to bounce back against India under the circumstances in Trinidad. Although some of our players have improved, as a team we still need to refocus and perform better against the Indians", stated Lead Selector.
West Indies hope to perform well against India after losing the most recent series versus Bangladesh 3-0. Even though the series with India is not a World Cup qualifying match, WI would feel quite confident if they win the series against India.
