Cricket News: Three Indian players who could get a chance to play in the Zimbabwe series
Team India is set to take on Zimbabwe in a three-match ODI series commencing on 18th August 2022 as the team progress towards Asia Cup and T20 World Cup
As the senior side of India has been rested, the 15-member young squad will be led by Shikhar Dhawan once again. All three matches will be played in Harare Sports Club, where Zimbabwe just scripted a history of defeating Bangladesh in 3-match ODI series.
With prominent players rested, it again opens the gate of opportunities for young players to give an impactful performance. So here are three players who deserve a fair chance to be included in playing XI on this tour:
Ruturaj Gaikwad
After having a successful stint in IPL 2021, Ruturaj Gaikwad got to debut for Men in Blue. However, he failed to have an impact as a part of playing XI for the team in the opportunities he got. Last played against South Africa at home, he could score just half-century once and was dismissed for a score of 10 and less thrice.
After being included in the Ireland squad, he did get a game but not a chance to contribute in the team's chase game being added down the order. After that, he has now got included in Zimbabwe's squad. If given a chance, he will need to capitalise on it to the fullest to grab further opportunities.
Kuldeep Yadav
Kuldeep Yadav displayed a stunning comeback in IPL 2022, which forced selectors to include him in the squad for the international tour. However, in the previous series, he caught a hand injury in the practice session, forcing him to rest. And on tour against West Indies, even when Yuzvendra Chahal was rested, he got just one game to play in which he returned with impressive figures of 3/12. Kuldeep has proved himself enough now, and the only thing he deserves is more international games.
Deepak Chahar
Deepak Chahar has been recalled to the Indian side after recovering from the hamstring injury, which he got just before IPL 2022. The injury forced him to miss IPL and has kept him away from international cricket since then. Still working on his fitness, he and Washington Sundar are both included in the squad and are fit to make a comeback. A comeback chance for him is crucial for his future in the team
