Cricket News: Rohit Sharma surpasses Shahid Afridi to become the second most prolific six-hitter in international cricket
India captain Rohit Sharma has surpassed Pakistan Shahid Afridi as the second highest six-hitter in international cricket, thanks to three maximums in the fourth T20I between West Indies and India, which was played at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida on August 6, 2022
India currently leads the five-match series 2-1, and the final Twenty20 will be played in Florida on August 7.
In international cricket, Rohit Sharma surpasses Shahid Afridi to become the second-highest six-hitter
Rohit Sharma came out firing with his strokeplay, entertaining the entire crowd at the Ford Lauderhill cricket ground. He was also harsh on the hero of the second T20I victory, Obed McCoy, hitting him for a huge six.
He scored 33 runs in 16 balls and appeared to be on track for more before being bowled by Akeal Hossein. He hit two fours and three sixes during his knock. And, thanks to his three sixes, he surpassed Pakistan's Shahid Afridi to take second place on the list of the most six hitters in international cricket.
Afridi had 476 sixes in his career, including 52 maximums in 27 Tests, 351 sixes in 398 ODIs, and 73 sixes in 99 T20Is. Rohit Sharma now has 477 sixes to his name, 64 of which came in 45 Tests, 250 in ODIs, and 163 in 131 T20Is.
However, West Indian Chris Gayle holds the top spot with 553 sixes. From 1999 to 2021, he hit 98 sixes in 103 Tests, 331 sixes in 301 ODIs, and 124 sixes in 79 T20Is for the Men in Maroon.
