Cricket News: Nominations for the ICC Player of the Month for October 2022
Three inspiring cricket players from India, South Africa, and Zimbabwe have been shortlisted for the ICC Men's Player of the Month Award for October 2022
Virat Kohli (India)
Virat Kohli has played only four innings in the last month, but he has made three memorable knocks, including a magical 82* against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2022.
As Virat Kohli himself admitted, it was the best T20I knock he has ever played. India already looked hopeless when they fell to 31-4 at a score of 160, but Virat Kohli stepped up and played the match-winner with 82* off just 53 shots to take the team home.
Apart from that, earlier this month, the 33-year-old played a superb knock of 49* off just 28 deliveries against South Africa in Guwahati. He followed up his majestic knock against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup with another compact 62* off 44 shots against the Netherlands. His only setback came in Perth when he was dismissed for just 12 against South Africa.
Overall, Virat Kohli made 205 T20I runs in October at an incredible average of 205 and a phenomenal strike rate of 150.73.
David Miller (South Africa)
David Miller has been in sensational form this year, and he went one better in October. Despite losing his T20I against India in Guwahati, David Miller ended up scoring 59 against Rohit Sharma's men in Perth, a match-winning innings on the biggest stage such as the World Cup.
Between those two knocks was another outstanding innings of 75* in an ODI against India in Lucknow. David Miller played seven innings in ODIs and T20Is together last month, remaining unbeaten in six of them.
The left-hander scored 303 runs at a sensational average of 303 during this period and scored his runs at an equally good batting rate of 146.37. David Miller has reinvented himself after a few difficult years, proving to be the most reliable batsman in South Africa.
Raza Sikandar (Zimbabwe)
In October, the experienced all-rounder gave some outstanding all-around efforts for Zimbabwe. Raza Sikandar extended his strong form into the T20 World Cup, demonstrating what he is capable of to the world.
He kicked off the month with a bang in their T20 World Cup 2022 opener against Ireland. The player hit 82 off 47 balls and then claimed bowling stats of 1/22 to help Zimbabwe get off to a winning start.
