Cricket News: Ireland VS Afghanistan, 5th T20I - Ireland defeated Afghanistan by seven wickets
In the rain-shortened fifth Twenty20 international, Ireland defeated Afghanistan by seven wickets (D/L method)
Afghanistan batted first and reached 95/5 in 15 overs, with Usman Ghani (44) leading the way.
Ghani and Najibullah Zadran put on 40 for the first wicket and were looking good to settle before Joshua Little was brought back into the attack and claimed two wickets in quick succession to put his team back in ahead.
Usman Ghani managed to speed up his innings, however, the rain intervened at 15 overs.
Ireland got off to a good start owing to an outstanding start with the ball by Mark Adair, who picked up three big wickets to put Afghanistan at 26/3 inside the Powerplay.
The hosts were given a target of 56 runs in 7 overs. Ireland played brilliantly, reaching the target with two balls to spare to win an exciting match and claim the series with a 3-2 victory.
Ireland lost just three wickets in 6.4 overs to reach the revised score of 56 (D/L method).
