IPL, giving chances to newcomers, transformed the lives of many players. Its craze spread globally in no time, and now with IPL franchises expanding themselves in world cricket has invited questions over its dominance globally.

Australian wicket-keeping legend Adam Gilchrist entitled "monopolisation" of IPL dangerous. This came after IPL franchise owners bought all the six teams in the upcoming CSA domestic league and reported David Warner opting to play for the UAE T20 league over the Big Bash League.

Cricket Australia do have the option to keep David Warner to themselves if they do not issue him a no-objection certificate. But the board can't force him.

Adam Gilchrist said, "They can't force David Warner to play in BBL, I understand that, but to let him then go off - or another player, let's not single out Warner because there will be other players on the radar - it's all part of this global dominance that these IPL franchises are starting to create given they own a number of teams in Caribbean Premier League. It's getting a little bit dangerous the grip that it's having to monopolise that ownership and the ownership of the players and their talents and where they can and can't play."

He highlighted that the grip these franchises have over the players is dangerous, and cricket boards should take cognisance of the matter as many more cricketers might follow Warner's suit. "It's the new younger player coming in that starts to make those noises where it'll be really challenging," Gilchrist added.
