the list doesn’t seem to take any pause even after. The vicious circle of one player treated to make a comeback and another returning with an injury has left England in a significant bowling crisis.

Should England keep their new talent Reece Topley away from Injury?

Several England National cricket team pacers have recently suffered injuries, adding to the worries of the England and Wales cricket board. Lately, England pacer Brydon Carse has been ruled out of the decisive ODI against South Africa to be played at Headingley due to a toe injury. He is the latest in a long line of England fast bowlers sustaining injury lay-offs.

“It’s definitely a concern and trying to find out why this is happening is something that we need to look into. We need to make sure that hopefully, it never happens again. But as you know with all fast bowlers, these, unfortunately, are the things that do happen – stress fractures in particular,” said England’s managing director of men’s cricket Rob Key.

Earlier in May, Jofra Archer got ruled out for the entire summer season due to his back injury, whereas Mark Wood’s other elbow surgery is lined-up in the coming month before the World Cup after getting injured in March 2022. Olly Stone, too, played his last international in June 2021 due to a stress fracture in his back/thigh and is yet to mark a full-time return. Saqib Mahmood, Matthew Fisher, and Chris Woakes’ recovery from their respective fractures and injuries are still awaited.

Sam Curran has made a terrific comeback after recovering from a back stress fracture against South Africa in the ODI series.

With such havoc that injuries have been made in the English camp of fast bowlers, the team should be extra cautious with their fit pacers in the form of Reece Topley and Chris Jordan. They have been stunning in a form in all the recently played white ball matches. The presence of such wicket-taking bowlers is crucial, especially when the World Cup is a couple of months away and England can’t afford to lose any of them with so many fast bowlers already on an uncertain road of recovery.
