Cricket News: ICC Men's T20 rankings update - Suryakumar Yadav is the world's no. 1 batsman
Suryakumar Yadav is in a captivating form in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. In three innings, he has scored 15, 51 not out, and 68 runs at a strike rate of 179. No other player has scored more runs at a better strike rate than him
Suryakumar Yadav made his debut in February 2021 and has been unstoppable ever since. He scored 1,179 runs in 35 innings, including 11 fifties, and a high score of 117 against England this year.
He averages 40.65 in the format, and his recent form - combined with Rizwan's poor showing in the T20 World Cup - has seen him overtake the latter and now ranks 19 points ahead of him.
Yadav currently has 863 rating points, which is also his best-ever score. The only other Indian in the top ten is Virat Kohli, who is now 10th after a couple of fifties in the World T20 Championship.
Rizwan has managed just 67 runs in three innings in this edition, including 49 in one inning.
His rating of 842 puts him ahead of third-placed Devon Conway, who has 792. Babar Azam's continued lack of form dropped him to 780: He dropped 10 points after the match against the Netherlands, where he scored four runs.
Glenn Phillips was the other beneficiary on the list. He climbed five places to seventh after his 104 against New Zealand. He is the second New Zealand player in the top ten after Conway.
Among the bowlers, Wanindu Hasaranga rose four places to the second spot in the latest list. Hasaranga's 13 wickets are the most by a player in the ongoing World Cup.
Sam Curran climbed to the sixth spot with a career-best rating of 665. Rashid Khan tops the list.
