Cricket News: England vs India 3rd ODI Preview, India Tour Of England 2022
The third ODI will be contested at Old Trafford in Manchester on Sunday. Both teams will be looking for their batters to regain their form
Match Preview
On Sunday, July 17, 2022, India and England will play their third One Day encounter. The game begins at 3:30 PM Indian Standard Time at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester. The match's coin toss will take place at 3:00 PM. India's team will be led by Rohit Sharma, while England's team will be led by Jos Buttler.
The stage is set for the final matchup of this tour between two of the best teams. India stormed in the T20I series to win comfortably by a score of 2-1 and England first fought back to win the last test and tie the test series at 2-2. The ODI series is now tied at 1-1 with the last match to be played.
England Team changes
England would like to keep using the same playing eleven as they have both won and lost with it. For a brief while, someone might believe that Matthew Parkinson should be used because Manchester is rather spin-friendly. Matthew Parkinson, though, lacks experience in the longer 50-over format. Additionally, if needed, Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali, and a little Joe Root can bowl 10 overs of spin. Thus, no adjustments to England's starting eleven are anticipated.
India Team changes
As the third seamer after Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami for the first two ODIs, Prasidh Krishna was chosen over Shardul Thakur and Arshdeep Singh. In both games, he took one wicket, but he was a little on the pricey side. At The Oval, Prasidh Krishna gave up 26 runs in five overs whereas at Lord's, he gave up 53 runs in eight overs. Given that Shardul Thakur is waiting in the lineup, Prasidh Krishna may not get the start on Sunday.
India must take advantage of Suryakumar Yadav's strong performance in both limited-overs formats by allowing the batsman extra time in the middle. In the second ODI, he batted in position number five, trailing Rishabh Pant, who entered at position number four. Suryakumar Yadav currently appears to be best suited for the number four spot so that he can arrive early and prevent a potential collapse after losing two wickets. On the other side, Rishabh Pant has experience batting at the number five position and may be allowed to play his natural attacking game there.
England VS India, 3rd ODI-Pitch Report
The Old Trafford field has recently seen high-scoring ODIs, and it will likely continue to do so for this game as well. Pitch would provide some assistance to the spinners.
Since the ODI World Cup 2019, three ODIs have been played at Old Trafford in Manchester and England lost two of them, although in close encounters. All three games were played between the hosts and Australia. Two of the games that England lost were high-scoring ones, while it was able to defend a total as low as 231 in the game that they won. Thus, identifying the character of the wicket is a tough ask, but whatever it may be like, it indeed promises to have close exciting finishes.
England Predicted Playing XI:
