Cricket News: CPL 2022 - David Miller named Barbados Royals Captain
The Barbados Royals of the Caribbean Premier League announced on Wednesday that South African hitter David Miller would be their Captain in 2022 (CPL)
As he takes on the additional job, the 32-year-old will work closely with head coach Trevor Penney and Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara, whom he played with the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.
The swashbuckling finisher was earlier ( 2020-2021 ) tied to the Rajasthan Royals, Barbados' partner franchise. It is excited to be returning to one of their organizations as the group's Captain after previously representing the Royals in the 2020 and 2021 seasons.
The Honor of Being Appointed Captain: David Miller
"During my time with the Royals in the IPL, I always felt very valued and was able to form a strong bond with the team." It's an exciting time to be joining the Barbados Royals, and it's an honor to be named Captain.
It is a team with a wealth of young and experienced talent from the Caribbean, and I am looking forward to working with the entire group to achieve our goals for the 2022 season," said David Miller in a statement.
David Miller on his IPL success
David Miller stated how he changed his mindset to improve his game. He explained, "And over the last three-four years, I have changed my mindset against spin. I have changed one or two things and I feel like it is just about making sure, especially in T20 cricket, that I pose myself. When there is a bad ball, I am looking to score every ball, but if there is a bad ball, I am in a good position to put it away for a four or six, it creates a bit of pressure on the bowler. So that is one of the things mentally I have tried to improve."
The Caribbean Premier League will run from August 30 to September 30, 2022.
