Cricket News: Captain's ban lifted for David Warner - What does this move mean?
There have been rumors about Cricket Australia lifting the captaincy ban from David Warner's head since 2018's Newlands ball-tampering scandal
However, the latest indication of that has come not from speculative media reports but from the cricket governing board itself.
"The view within Cricket Australia is that David is doing particularly well on the field and making a great contribution off the field," CA chairman, Lachlan Henderson said.
"The first step in terms of David's leadership ban is to review the code and see if those sanctions are able to be reviewed. And the appropriate revisions to that code that would need to be made."
"Our intention is to review the code as quickly as is practical. It's not in anyone's interest for us to delay that. It would be in time for any future leadership conversations in relation to David."
For the uninitiated, Warner was handed a captaincy ban as part of the fallout from the ball-tampering scandal simply because it appeared he was the one who most vouched for the plan.
The board also wanted to consign his "dog off the leash" behaviour to history, as it was seen as a problem that needed to be resolved.
