Australian white-ball spinner Adam Zampa says his Baggy Green dream still burns bright and sees a return to the Marsh Sheffield Shield as his opportunity to secure a place in Test XI.

Adam Zampa, 30, is in the best form of his international career and has impressive figures in both 50-over and 20-over cricket.

This year he has taken 30 ODI wickets at an average of 17.53 (including 11 in three matches against the world's no. one England) and 17 T20I wickets at an economy of 7.38.

The leg-spinner is convinced he can make an impact when he is called up to the Australian Test team that travels to India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in February.

Adam Zampa has not played a first-class match since November 2019, but he still harbours ambitions of playing the most extended format of the game.

"My dream is still to play Test cricket," Adam Zampa told Fox Cricket ahead of the third Dettol ODI in Melbourne on Tuesday.

"My game has evolved over the last few years. It's just about the workload and how my body copes with it."

"I'd like to throw my hat in the ring (for the India tour)."

In Adam Zampa's favour, there will be three one-day internationals as part of Australia's tour of India next year, of which he will undoubtedly be a part.
