Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are the two most successful teams in the history of the Indian Premier League.

Mumbai Indians have won five titles, while the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings, have won four to their credit.

But both these two champions lost all the matches they had so far in TATA IPL 2022.

Chennai’s struggle for perfect team combination

When we talk about the defending champions Chennai Super Kings, they lost to Kolkata Knight Riders by six wickets in their opening match. After that, in a high-scoring encounter, the Ravindra Jadeja-led side then lost to debutants Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by a similar margin. Never before had they lost their first two matches of a season. CSK has a strong batting side, so their apparent weakness is their death bowling, which was performed admirably by Shardul Thakur and Dwayne Bravo last season. Deepak Chahar bowls mainly in the powerplay, who tends to miss this season due to injury, while Adam Milne and Chris Jordan tend to leak runs at the back end of the innings.

The third fast bowler is also a cause for concern, with KM Asif, Tushar Deshpande, and Rajvardhan Hangarkekar being the only options. In the shortest format, Chennai continues to undermine leg-spinners, but the lack of a quality one could hamper their chances.

Match winning team with zero wins so far

When we consider Mumbai Indians, they have outstanding openers as captain Rohit Sharma opens the batting lineup along with Ishan Kishan, the most expensive buy for their team. With Suryakumar Yadav, Kieron Pollard and Dewald Brewis to follow, Mumbai Indians has several batters who can get the required runs in most matches. They also have one of the best death bowlers in the form of Jasprit Bumrah, who is capable of picking up wickets and conceding the minimum number of runs when the team requires it most. With such a good bowling and batting side and the best players, the Mumbai Indians could not win even their first three matches of the tournament.

Harsha Bhogle tweeted, “It is just three matches into the #TATAIPL and @mipaltan are searching a bit for bowling options. Pitches have been too good for bowlers like Mills and Sams. Probably give Meredith a go and hope his extra pace works. But they also need those extra 20-25 runs.”

CSK vs MI, who's performing worst this season?

We can't blame any of these teams because the nature of cricket is, win or lose, but both of these teams have performed worse so far. But remember, All the MI and CSK fans are waiting for a smile on their faces, so these champions have to play upcoming matches very well.

"This season, Mumbai and Chennai will meet in the league stage on April 21 and May 12 at the DY Patil and Wankhede Stadium, respectively."
