Asia Cup 2022 Championship: Why has Bangladesh not solved the T20 format till now despite ODI success?
The primary skill needed in a team for success in the shortest format is the presence of big hitters in the batting line-up. And this is one of the significant loopholes which has left an enormous gap in Bangladesh's overall white ball performance
They have lacked good leg-spinners or any mystery bowler in the pace or spin department that can give the team an advantage, at least in the bowling department.
"We don't have the culture that allows the positive and fearless cricket so needed in T20s. Honestly, we have a long way to go in T20s. We are a team dependent on skilled hitting, not big hitters." said Nazmul Abedeen Fahim, a senior Bangladesh coach.
Afghanistan won their matches against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the last Asia cup. This year they have again won the game against Sri Lanka and will be positive to repeat history. On the other hand, under the captaincy of Shakib Al Hasan, Sri Lanka will play cricket with the intensity they are known for.
Though this is not a high-profile team match, the competition will be nothing short of a high profile.
