Asia Cup 2022 Championship: Coach from Lahore to assist Pakistan Bowling coach Shaun Tait
Pakistan has always been known for being a pace-dominant country producing world-class seam bowlers. To reach another excellence, Pakistan Cricket Board has sent a High-Performance Coach for the Asia Cup
In a recent development before the Asia Cup, Umar Rasheed, a bowling coach from Pakistan's High-Performance center in Lahore, will join the team to assist the team's head bowling coach Shaun Tait.
Umar Rasheed has been included in the support staff on the recommendation of head coach Saqlain Mushtaq. "The idea is that Umar will act as the bridge for proper communication between Shaun Tait and the players," said a PCB source to PTI.
One of the prime reasons for his inclusion has been Mohammad Hasnain, who has replaced injured Shaheen Shah Afridi in the Asia Cup squad.
"One is that since Mohammad Hasnain is in the squad, Umar will keep on monitoring his bowling action as he worked on correcting his action when the fast bowler was first reported for an illegal bowling action early this year," added a PCB source.
Shaheen Shah Afridi has been a pillar of strength for their bowling attack. As he is advised to rest, Pakistan's pace-attack in the tournament is pretty thin on exposure to the shortest format.
Pakistan team will get into the first challenge against India, where the pace attack will be tested.
