Abhishek Sharma vs Lockie Ferguson: A thrilling clash seen in GT vs SRH
The 21-year-old opener of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Abhishek Sharma, played a stellar knock for his team against Gujarat Titans. So far, the young fellow has been terrific with his bat in IPL matches
What caught everyone's attention on the batter was his stellar against Lockie Ferguson in the 21st IPL match between SRH and GT.
Abhishek wreaked havoc on Ferguson.
Abhishek Sharma played an outstanding inning of 42 runs off 32 balls to give his team a stable start alongside skipper Kane Williamson. Skipper Hardik Pandya gave Lockie Ferguson the ball in the hope of at least one wicket in the final over of power play. And that is when we witnessed the stunner from Abhishek Sharma coming opposite to the best wicket-taker, Lockie Ferguson. Abhishek Sharma backfired the wicket-taking move of the skipper and smashed the first three balls of Ferguson for back-to-back boundaries. The fourth ball went as a dot ball. But the batsman didn't stop here; he further went on to hit the fourth boundary of the over. The bowler ended up conceding 17 runs in an over, giving the opening duo a fiery start for the chase.
In the previous match against Chennai Super Kings, too, the batter scored his maiden IPL half-century to help the team register the first win of the season. Fans and the cricket fraternity couldn't stop hailing praises for the youngster.
Aakash Chopra tweeted, "Abhishek Sharma's high bid at the auction raised few eyebrows…#SRH showed faith by continuing opening with him, and he's repaid the faith. The first installment deposited, #IPL2022."
The young star from SRH would remain a player to watch out for in the upcoming matches and hopefully lift the bar of his team to one of the favorites to win.
