A glimpse of ABD in Dewald Brevis against Punjab Kings

The 23rd match between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings saw an evening full of twists and turns in a game that landed in favour of Punjab Kings.

    Baby ABD Baby ABD

The five-time champions recorded their fifth consecutive loss in the league.

While chasing the target of 199 set by Punjab Kings, teams saw the pendulum swing in both directions in the match. One such moment where it seemed Punjab would be the one on the losing side was when Dewald Brevis was playing his knock in partnership with Tilak Varma. The duo built the highest partnership of 84-runs off 41 balls for their team. Dewald Brevis was aggressive with his bat but missed his maiden half-ton by a run for a run-out.

He played a ballistic knock in the first over of Rahul Chahar. The 18-year-old, fondly known as baby ABD, went on a rampage to slam the bowler for four consecutive sixes. He did much justice to his nickname as Rahul Chahar ended up conceding 29 runs in that over.

The 9th over stellar by Brevis

The first ball of the over was played by Tilak Varma for a single run. Dewald Brevis, on strike, smashed a boundary for a loose ball by Rahul Chahar. The second ball bowled into the slot was sent for a long-off sixer. The second sixer came down with the batter coming on his knee and this time sent it over long-on. Rahul Chahar was forced to bowl a short delivery, to which the young fellow responded by hitting an easy six over deep mid-wicket. The last and final six was again slotted on long-on, just like Ab de Villiers going on his knee to create room for the shot. He pulled the biggest six of IPL 2022 with a humongous sixer of 112 meters. This way, he scored his wonderful 25-ball 49 to give Punjab Kings a mini heart attack.
