5 Players with Centuries in the IPL Playoffs
Only five players have scored a century in IPL playoff matches. Here are some registered names of players in the record book scoring three digits in knockout games
Rajat Patidar (2022)
Rajat Patidar is the latest entrance in the list of centuries in IPL Playoffs. The 28-year-old replacement player not only scored a ton in the eliminator but also became the first uncapped player to reach the mark in the playoffs. He is a right-armed bowler and batsman too. On 25 May 2022, Rajat Patidar playing for Royal challengers Bangalore (RCB) against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, scored 112 runs off only 54 balls to remain not out at the end of the first innings. His score consisted of 12 boundaries and seven sixes. His batting helped Royal Challenger Bangalore create a massive score of 207 for 4 in 20 overs. The explosive right-handed batsman registered the fastest hundred of IPL 2022.
Shane Watson (2018)
Former Australian cricketer Shane Watson has never failed to amaze us with his incredible performance on the field. When part of RCB, he mainly batted as a middle-order batsman, but when he joined CSK, he started playing as an opener. Playing as an opener gave him the power to show his capabilities; thus, he delivered a couple of centuries in the 2018 season. His knock in the IPL final 2018 against Sunrisers Hyderabad was mesmerising. In that match, he opened the innings for CSK and scored unbeaten 117 runs in just 57 balls, leading to an eight-wicket win in the finals against Sunrisers Hyderabad and adding a success with the third IPL trophy.
Wriddhiman Saha (2014)
This 37-year-old right-handed batsman is also part of this list. The Indian cricketer is often seen playing for the national team, IPL, and first-class matches domestically for Bengal. Along with being a very impressive batsman, he is also an excellent wicketkeeper. He is also the first Indian cricketer to score a century in the IPL final. In the 2014 season of the Indian Premier League, playing for the Punjab franchise, he scored unbeaten 115 runs just in 55 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders. This added to a total of 199 at the loss of four wickets. However, Kolkata knight riders managed to lift their 2nd IPL title, leaving his ton in a losing cause.
Virender Sehwag (2014)
Virender Sehwag, or 'Viru', is a former Indian Cricketer who played domestic cricket for Delhi and Haryana. He was considered an aggressive opening batsman during his career. Right after his test cricket retirement, he joined Kings XI Punjab. During the 2014 season of IPL, he scored 122 runs in 58 balls against Chennai Super Kings in the second qualifiers match. In that innings, he smashed 12 boundaries and eight sixes to Punjab Kings (formerly known as Kings XI Punjab) in 20 overs. His score enabled the team to fetch 226 at a loss of six wickets. This way, Virender Sehwag got a name on this list. After the season, he took over the management of Punjab kings.
Murali Vijay (2012)
Chennai Super King's power-packed performer and opener Murali Vijay is also part of this list of records. This 38-year-old right-handed opening batsman also plays domestic first-class cricket for Tamil Nadu.
