Commonwealth Games 2022 finals
Lakshya gained notable popularity in India and worldwide after winning the finals of this year’s Commonwealth Games, winning the gold medal and making a place in the top 10 Badminton players in the world.
After defeating Ng Tze Yong of Malaysia 19-21, 21-9, and 21-16, Sen made his country proud. He is currently holding the 9th position in the world rankings.
A boy playing the junior level only a few days back won the gold medal at the Commonwealth, leaving all viewers stunned.
Thomas Cup 2022 Finals
The gold medal at the Thomas Cup of 2022 was crucial because it was Sen’s first Thomas Cup victory and India’s very first victory at the Thomas Cup.
Another reason why this win is significant is that this year, India defeated the 14 times champion in Thomas Cup, Indonesia, in the finals.
As an additional reward for bringing India this joy and respect, Lakshya Sen was awarded Rs. 5 Lakh prize by Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
Dutch Open title in BWF World Tour
Right before the world went through one of the most challenging times ever, the COVID-19 Pandemic, Lakshya Sen made one of his most significant achievements by winning his first BWF World Tour title, Dutch Open.
Before defeating Yusuke Onodera of Japan in the final, he first defeated two other champions: Ygor Coelho from Brazil and Cuba’s Osleni Guerrero.
He achieved the Saarlorlux Open title by consecutively winning the super 100 tournaments.
His victories in the BWF World Tour made him achieve a place in the top 50 badminton players in the world, a massive achievement in itself.
Asian Junior Championship 2018 Final
Before Sen entered the senior scene, he was at the top of his game in the Junior Championships.
He held the position of World no. 1 before he entered the senior championships.
In 2018, he entered the Asian Junior Championship seeded in the sixth position and won the final against the Thai champion, Kunlavut Vitidsarn, 21-19, 21-18.
All England Open 2022 Semifinal
Lakshya Sen has left his mark on one of the prestigious events: the All England Open Badminton Championship.
One of his many medals is the silver medal in the All England Open. Though he lost to World no. 1, Viktor Axelsen, in the final, securing the silver medal was an accomplishment.
