PV Sindhu Increases Head-to-Head Margin
After her latest win, Hyderabadi icon Sindhu now has a total of 17 wins in 18 matches against the world number 11. The Thai had a good start after winning the India Open in New Delhi and has only lost four matches this season. She gave away three of them to Sindhu which include Busanan's losses at the German Open first round and Swiss Open final.
P.VSindhu took to the back of the court to answer Busanan’s smashes and tackled them with precision. The Thai used the power of her wrists to pull the game in her favour. However, the two-time Olympic medalist refused to budge and won 42 of the 68 points played. P.VSindhu concluded the game with an overhead crosscourt sliced smash. In her upcoming match, Sindhu will face South Korean second seed and world number four An Seyoung. The five-time World Championship medalist will pose a huge threat to Sindhu who has beaten her in the last three attempts.
Srikanth Refused to Give Up
Srikanth's opponent had beaten him in their last three encounters. He currently has seven wins against the Indian while the latter only has five. After a tough second set, the world number 12 Indian won 60 of the 105 points played in the decider. He will now face reigning Asian Games champion, Jonatan Christie. Their last outing concluded in favor of the Indonesian although they hold a four-four record in career meetings. Christie had also defeated Srikanth in the Swiss Open semi-final in March 2022.
