Badminton Indonesia Open: Tai Tzu Ying beat Chen Yu Fei to reach the women's singles finals
Tai Tzu Ying, who has been a champion twice, beat the Tokyo Olympic star Chen Yu Fei to reach the Indonesia Open Women's singles finals
Yesterday's incredible game in Jakarta, Indonesia, saw Ying's victory 10-21, 26-24, 21-12. Though the first set ended in Chen Yu Fei's favour, the last two groups ended in Tai Tzu's victory.
The women's singles finals will see Tai Tzu Ying competing for the title against Wang Zhiyi. Wang Zhiyi reached the finals after a straight-set win against the opponent, He Bingjiao, 21-15, 21-10.
While Tai beat her semi-final opponent in a one-hour and nine-minute match, her opponent in the finals defeated her semi-final counterpart in only 42 minutes. It will be interesting to see when these two compete for the final title.
Zheng Si Wei/Huang Ya Qiong beat Wang Yi Lyu/Huang Dong Ping
Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong, one of the most celebrated pairs, defeated Wang Yilyu and Huang Dongping in the Indonesia Open semi-finals. This week has been incredibly good for China, as all the Chinese have qualified for finals except the women's doubles. Zheng and Huang, world rank no. 2, beat Wang and Huang 21-6, 21-14 in a match that lasted 33 minutes.
The Chinese pair that has qualified for the finals is set to play against the Japanese duo Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino in a fight for the title. The Japanese team defeated Seo Seung-Jae and Chae Yu-Jung from South Korea in the semi-finals to remain in the race for the title.
