    Lakshay Sen advanced to the quarter-finals of the DAIHATSU Indonesia Masters Super 500 with the win. It was the first time World No. 9 was facing Ramsus Gemke of Denmark in his international career. World Championship bronze medallist Sen limited errors, displayed better control and wrestled his way to a fine victory.

    Rasmus Gemke started strong and quickly rushed to a 0-3 lead, but Lakshay Sen promptly turned it around and made it 9-6. Both the players worked hard as the Dane pushed to a 10-11 advantage. However, Lakshay Sen returned with renewed vigour after the break, clinched six consecutive points, and wrapped up the first set with a 21-18 victory.

    The 20-year-old Indian and Rasmus Gemke were evenly matched in the second game before Lakshay Sen advanced to a 13-12 advantage. He sealed a quarter-final spot with a four-point burst after 54 minutes of play.

    Seventh seed Lakshay Sen will next lock horns with Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei in a quarter-final clash.

    P.V. Sindhu edges past Gregoria Mariska Tunjung to reach quarter-finals in Jakarta

    Two-time Olympic medallist P.V. Sindhu defeated Gregoria Mariska Tunjung of Indonesia 23-21 20-22 21-11 at Gelora Bung Karno Sports Palace in Jakarta, Indonesia, on June 9.

    P.V. Sindhu started aggressively and engaged in long rallies to quickly get a 10-5 lead against unseeded Gregoria Mariska Tunjung. However, the Indonesians mounted a counterattack and levelled the score at 15-15. Both the players clawed their way to 21 points before P.V. Sindhu eventually pocketed the first set.

    In the second game, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung was on the offensive. P.V. Sindhu fought tooth and nail to 20-20 before the 22-year-old Indonesian sent the match into a decider with sheer determination.

    The second set started without getting a clear advantage on the seventh point. PV Sindhu made excellent use of her big-game experience to take complete control of the match and seal her victory after more than an hour of play.
