It was a rematch of the third and deciding match in the memorable Thomas Cup final earlier this year. Both players exhibited a similar pace in the starting moments of the match. However, the Indian soon pulled ahead from 5-4 in favour of Christie to 16-11 with Srikanth in the lead.

Despite valiant efforts by Christie, he couldn't topple his opponent's defensive tactics and waited for the second game. Halfway through the first game, Srikanth had already set his attacking momentum and pocketed the first game 21-13.

Christie found his footing in the second game and Srikanth had a tough time keeping up initially. He took a one-point lead into the interval which stretched to four points.

In the final stages, he led 19-15 with two match points under his belt. However, Christie fought hard until he narrowed his deficit to 18-19 and saved the first match point before Srikanth converted the other one.

    Treesa-Gayatri charge into the semis

Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand dominated their women's doubles quarterfinal clash against Chinese Taipei's Hsu Ya-ching/Lin Wan Ching and downed them 21-17, 18-21, 21-8 to reach the semi-finals.

The Indians crafted a good start and pulled ahead after a few errors made by their opponents in short rallies. A brief strain in the Indian duo's performance allowed Hsu-Lin to level the score at 12-12 but the former subsequently won six points in a row and pedaled ahead to win the first game 21-17.

Their composure and confidence were palpable throughout but a few blocks in communication between the pair resulted in a string of errors that proved beneficial for the opponents. They kept fighting despite mounting pressure from the Indians and took the second game 18-21.

An improved performance from Gayatri Gopichand in the third game motivated the Indians to take a 10-point lead at 18-8. The Chinese Taipei duo's efforts went in vain as the Indians seized the next three points to win the match!

The world's number 28 duo has now set up a clash with eighth seeds Benyapa Aimsaard and Nuntakarn Aimsaard of Thailand. As good luck favoured some Indians, the rest of them suffered heavy losses.

The top Indian men's doubles duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty suffered a straight-game defeat to the seventh-seeded English pairing of Ben Lane and Sean Vendy 17-21 14-21 in the men's doubles quarter-finals match.

In the women's singles, Malvika Bansod lost to Indonesia's world number 21 Gregoria Mariska Tunjung in straight sets 17-21 10-21 in a highly one-sided contest.
